Council on Auxiliaries/Volunteers celebrates 50th anniversary

Congratulations to Ann Hauerland of Martin who was installed as the State President of the Georgia Council on Auxiliaries/Volunteers of the Georgia Hospital Association during a dinner meeting of the full membership at the Augusta Marriott. Those attending included Stephens County Hospital Auxilians Barbara Sheppard, Louise Wilson, Mary Jo Easley, Sue Moore, Mary Camp, Joyce Kellar, Jan Hencely and Ann’s daughter, Tracey Lopez.

The Council on Auxiliaries/Volunteers of the Georgia Hospital Association (CoA/V) was founded in 1958 and currently consists of 90 hospital auxiliaries throughout the State of Georgia. Ann will represent the 7,213 volunteers in conferences and meetings. During the 2008-2009 year, these auxilians volunteered over a million hours in their participating hospitals and contributed funds in excess of 4 million dollars. There are also 1499 teens active in CoA/V programs.

Hospital Administrator Ed Gambrell commends the ladies and men of the hospital auxiliary for the hours of time they invest with the patients, staff and in our community. “Our auxilians are a tremendous help at Stephens County Hospital. In the last year, they “worked” over 7,000 hours and donated over $20,000 to purchase medical equipment. We just can’t say enough good things about our volunteers.” To become a hospital volunteer, contact Nita Macomson at 706-282-4257.
