ADVANCE CARDIAC LIFE SUPPORT TRAINING
TOCCOA, GA ~~ Twenty three students and fourteen instructors muscled their way through seventeen hours of challenging course work to pass the annual Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) course recently held at Stephens County Hospital. Designed specifically for healthcare providers, ACLS first teaches students how to recognize ten different life-threatening situations in adult patients. Target students include doctors, nurses, paramedics and respiratory therapists. ACLS is based on realistic simulated clinical scenarios that encourage active, hands-on participation through learning stations where students will practice essential skills individually, as part of a team, and as a team leader. Instructors were Brenda Shook, Reta Ramey, Sherry Gragg, Brenda Cathey, Brian Duncan, David Owenby, Sue Butler, Margaret O’Connor & Connie Rice – all registered nurses along with Stephens County EMS Paramedics Michael Carter, James Norris, Donna Scott, Chris Stephens and William Stephens.
