SINGLETARY NAMED 2011 NURSE HERO
AT STEPHENS COUNTY HOSPITAL

2011 Nurse Hero, Tammy Singletary, RN receives the award plaque from Faye Taylor, RN, Director of Nursing.

National Nurse's Week begins on May 6th and is celebrated through May 12th, Florence Nightingale's birthday. In honor of this celebration, every year nurses and hospital staff at Stephens County Hospital gather in the cafeteria to recognize the staff members that have been nominated by their peers for the prestigious award of Nurse Hero. This year's breakfast reception honored Tammy Singletary, RN, as the 2011 Nurse Hero. "It's our way of recognizing the efforts and contributions of the nursing staff", said Faye Taylor, RN, Director of Nursing. "This is an annual event where the entire nursing staff make nominations based on a specific set of criteria. There are 350 employees in the Nursing Department and these nominees represent the best of the best".

Other nominees who received recognition and were presented a commemorative mug were Heather Smith, RN (Surgical Floor), Mary Ann Hill, RN (Critical Care), Michelle Marcengil, RN (Medical Floor), Mary Ann Johnson, RN (Surgical Floor Manager) and David Winters, PCT (Surgical Floor). The Nurse Hero award is presented as part of the hospital's celebration of National Nurse's Week and is designed to recognize the contributions of the nursing profession to their communities.
