Jim Halsey earns Registered Polysomnographic
Technologist (RPSGT) credentials

(TOCCOA, GEORGIA –-August 10, 2005) -- Jim Halsey, the Respiratory Therapy Manager at Stephens County Hospital, has earned the Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) credentials, becoming one of only two hundred such experts in the state of Georgia. This internationally recognized designation represents the highest certification in the field for health care professionals who clinically assess patients with sleep disorders. In order to test for the registry, technologist must have requisite clinical experience, hold CPR certification, adhere to the Board of Registered Polysonmographic Technologist Standards of Conduct and successfully complete the registry exam.

A polysomnogram is a test that records a patient’s physical state during various stages of sleep and wakefulness. It provides data that is essential in evaluating sleep and sleep-related complaints. “The sleep lab at Stephens County Hospital has been instrumental in providing a better quality life for our sleep patients who have been diagnosed and treatment started. Jim is a registered respiratory therapist and has been employed with Stephens County Hospital as the Respiratory Therapy manager for ten years. He resides in Toccoa with his wife, Jennifer and son, Josh.
