Nita Macomson - Toccoa/Stephens County "Senior Woman of
the Year" 2002
During the Senior Expo 2002, a community wide event sponsored by
AM 630 WNEG, Nita Macomson was recognized as "Senior Women
of the Year". Radio personality Connie Gaines and general manager
Phil Hobbs presented Nita with a plaque commemorating her outstanding
dedication and services to the Toccoa/Stephens County community.
As an active volunteer, Nita keeps a rigorous schedule serving in
a number of civic organizations as well as a leadership role in
the Stephens County Hospital Auxiliary. She proves her devotion
to duty daily with an accommodating attitude and untiring efforts
to make the world a better place to be. As one anonymous writer
stated, "Nita's leadership and loyalty are uncommon in today's
society. I find inspiration in seeing her attend to the needs of
others while making light of her own needs. We could all learn a
lesson in service from Nita."
Attending the ceremony as a surprise visit were Nita's two daughters,
Sandy Saunders from Gainesville and Terrie Harper from Thomason.
