~Welcome~

Thank you for choosing Stephens County Hospital for your pregnancy and newborn care. You are very important to us. Each member of the New Impressions Staff has a sincere, personal interest in your comfort and well-being. Our team approach utilizes the expertise of obstetricians, certified nurse midwives, pediatricians, anesthesiologists, and trained staff nurses. They provide expert clinical care for both you and your baby and will support you every step of the way during your first few days as a new family. We will assist you with feeding (breast or bottle), educate you on how to care for yourself once you are discharged home, and answer any questions that you are sure to have about your new baby. Our goal is to ensure all moms and babies get the individualized care and compassion they deserve. We encourage parents to maintain an active role in the care and decisions that affect their newborns, from feedings to procedures.

We do understand the importance of support from family and friends. However, patient care is our primary focus. In order to enhance our quality of care and security, specific visiting hours and regulations have been established.

~Just like home~

They are decorated in subtle soft colors with plenty of natural sunlight. As part of our rooming-in philosophy, babies are kept with their mom throughout their hospital stay. However, should you desire extra rest, our staff is available to care for your newborn. The suites also have a sleeper chair for a support person to stay with mom and baby, as well as private bathrooms with a walk-in shower. Each room has a small personal refrigerator, cable television, and a combo DVD/VHS player. For our new grandmothers, we have a cozy glider-rocker that we are sure you will fall in love with!

~What about baby~

Our team of pediatricians and nursery staff are second to none! From well-baby care to the specialized care of our level II NICU, know that your baby is in safe hands. Our experienced, board certified pediatricians are available 24 hours a day. Although very few babies will ever need the NICU, take comfort in knowing that we are fully equipped to provide the best care for your newborn. Should your baby require extensive treatment, we can safely and quickly transfer him or her to a level III NICU for further care.

After delivery, staff will assist you in feeding your newborn. Our nurses will coach you through the first feeding and give you tips on techniques, as well as a healthy dose of support and encouragement. Should you choose to breastfeed, our Certified Lactation Consultants are available upon request and can offer additional instruction to ensure that you and your baby enjoy the rewards of nursing.

~We are here~

You can rest assured that we are prepared to give you and your newborn the best care available. We are close to home, experienced, and friendly. At New Impressions you are not just a number, you are part of our family!
